My Favorite place
Salento is
located in Quindío, in the coffee region of the country. This town is one of
the most visited tourist destinations in the Coffee Region thanks to its
colorful colonial architecture, its quiet atmosphere, and its proximity to the
Cocora Valley, home of the imposing wax palm, the national tree of Colombia,
which makes it one of the best towns to know about the Colombian culture.
It is
surrounded by green mountains and coffee plantations. Salento offers a unique
combination of natural beauty and traditional culture. Its cobblestone streets,
brightly painted wooden balconies, and artisan shops reflect the rich Paisa
heritage, and the Alto de la Cruz viewpoint provides panoramic views of the
valley.
In addition to its urban appeal, Salento is
the gateway to the Los Nevados National Natural Park, which makes it an ideal
point for lovers of hiking, photography, and nature.
I chose this touristic place because I'm a
photographer, and I really like all the pictures that I can take there;
everything since the streets and the people inspires me to continue traveling
there.
When I travel
to salento I feel happy and inspired; however, when it is too crowded, I feel
overwhelmed by the tourists because there is too much noise. That's why I like
to travel there when it is not too crowded; that means that is not when
everyone is on vacation, which makes it cheaper.
Since I live in
Palmira is only three to four hours away, I usually travel on my motorcycle, so
if I need to stop, it is ok; I can manage the time and also enjoy the view
while traveling.
Nearby Salento
there are two towns that I also like because they do have colonial
architecture; they are Circacia and Filandia. They are part of the coffee
region, and I also like to try the coffee and the desserts that are sold in
those towns.
I think every
Colombian should go at least once to these places to connect with our culture.
